Appearance: This product is a white to off-white powder or crystalline solid, insoluble in water, slightly soluble in dioxane, and soluble in toluene.

Usage: It is an important pharmaceutical intermediate used in the synthesis of voglibose, miglitol, dapagliflozin, as well as components such as the jinggangmycin enamine part of acarbose, the bicyclic spiroacetal unsaturated sugar subunit of avermectin, the methoxytetrahydrofuran building block of annonacin, the O-antigen oligosaccharide of Shigella flexneri, photodynamic therapeutic agents like phthalocyanine-glucose conjugates, and sugar-drug conjugates for targeted therapy. It is also used in synthesizing bioactive compounds such as glycosidase inhibitors like nojirimycin, aminocyclopentitol, glucosyltetrahydroimidazopyridine; plasma glucose-lowering agents like aspalatone; antitumor agents like chartreusin, glucosylisophosphoramide mustard; anti-cervical cancer agents like diosgenin analogs; antimalarial agents like ferrocene-tetrabenzyl glucose conjugates; anti-Leishmania donovani agents like bicyclic sugars; antifungal agents like glucosylphosphorylcholine; antioxidant and neuroprotective agents like flavonoid glycosides; protein kinase B inhibitors like azainositol; aldose reductase inhibitors like glucosyl gallic acid; cholesterol absorption inhibitors like glucosyl-2-aza-cyclobutanone.
