Comet fiber filter media is a new type of filtering material that combines the advantages of both fiber filter media, such as high filtration precision and large dirt holding capacity,
and granular filter media, such as high backwashing cleanliness and low water consumption. The porosity distribution of the filter bed formed by this media closely resembles the structure of an ideal filter material.
On the cross-section (horizontal) of this filter bed, the porosity is evenly distributed, ensuring uniformity in the size of water flow channels during filtration. The direct result is an even distribution of dirt retention,
preventing the phenomenon of water flow short-circuiting. On the longitudinal section (vertical) of the filter bed, the porosity decreases gradually from top to bottom, forming a gradient distribution with larger pores at the top and smaller ones at the bottom.
This structure is highly conducive to the effective separation of solid suspended matter in water, meaning that particles detached from the upper part of the filter bed are easily captured and retained in the narrower channels of the lower part.
During filtration, the denser comet core compacts the fiber bundles, while the small size of the comet core has little impact on the uniformity of pore distribution in the filtration cross-section,
thereby enhancing the overall dirt retention capacity of the filter bed. During backwashing, due to the density difference between the comet core and the comet tail fiber bundles, the comet tail fibers spread out and sway with the backwash water flow,
generating strong drag forces. The mutual collisions between the filter media further intensify the mechanical forces acting on the fibers in the water. The irregular shape of the filter media causes it to rotate under the action of the backwash water flow,
enhancing the forces exerted on the media during backwashing. The combined action of these forces makes it easy for solid particles attached to the fiber surfaces to detach, thereby improving the cleanliness of the filter media.
