MP-508E Soil Temperature, Moisture, and Salinity Sensor

The 508E sensor adopts a low-power design and can simultaneously measure three parameters: soil temperature, soil volumetric water content, and soil electrical conductivity (EC).

Product Principle:

Soil Temperature: The sensor is equipped with a digital temperature-sensing chip on a probe, using copper cladding to enhance thermal conduction efficiency, to measure the surface temperature of the probe, i.e., the soil temperature.

Soil Volumetric Water Content: The sensor uses the FDR (Frequency Domain Reflectometry) principle based on dielectric constant. It infers soil moisture content by measuring the effect of soil dielectric constant on the transmission of high-frequency signals.

Soil Electrical Conductivity (EC): The sensor measures impedance by applying alternating current between two metal contact points, thereby calculating soil electrical conductivity. The use of alternating current avoids polarization effects caused by direct voltage, and the conductivity measurement also includes self-calibration for temperature.

The sensor features an automatic sleep setting, operating once every 3 minutes. The data update cycle is 3 minutes.
