Chromite Jaw Crusher

Chromite is a mineral formed by magmatic processes, often found in ultramafic rocks, coexisting with olivine; when the rock undergoes weathering and destruction, chromite often transfers into placer deposits. It appears very similar to magnetite, generally occurring in massive or granular aggregates. Chromite belongs to the isometric crystal system, with crystals forming small octahedrons, typically appearing as granular and dense massive aggregates. It is black in color, with a brown streak, submetallic luster, hardness of 5.5, specific gravity of 4.2–4.8, and weak magnetism, with higher iron content resulting in stronger magnetism.

The crushing production process of chromite ore generally involves reducing the size of raw ore mined from the mountain, which is 700–800 mm, to 10–20 mm particles, making it more suitable for grinding in mills for subsequent beneficiation and purification. Throughout the crushing stage, three types of crushers are required: jaw crushers, cone crushers, and impact crushers.

As a high-hardness ore, chromite first requires coarse and fine crushing to reduce the particle size of the ore, preparing it for subsequent beneficiation processes. This step can be accomplished using a jaw crusher.
