Forged steel gate valves have three types of bonnet designs. The first is the bolted bonnet, where the valve body and bonnet are connected by bolts and nuts, sealed with spiral-wound gaskets (316 with flexible graphite). Metal ring connections can also be used upon special customer request. The second design is the welded bonnet, where the valve body and bonnet are threaded and fully welded for sealing. Through-weld connections can also be used upon special customer request. The third is the self-sealing bonnet, where the valve body and bonnet are threaded, and sealing is achieved by internal pressure self-sealing rings.
