The YOUNG Model 86000 Ultrasonic Anemometer measures horizontal wind speed and direction. This lightweight and compact sensor features a durable, corrosion-resistant construction, with sensitive ultrasonic transducers mounted in a streamlined molded frame. Each sensor is wind tunnel tested and calibrated to provide accurate wind measurements over a wide operating range. Standard sensors feature RS-232 and RS-485 serial outputs in various formats. Analog voltage outputs for wind speed and direction are provided. A 4-20 mA current signal per channel is ideal for long cable runs or industrial environments where noise immunity is important. The sensor mounts on a standard 1-inch IPS pipe. An orientation ring is included that engages the sensor base to maintain orientation when the sensor is removed for maintenance. Termination is via miniature clip-on connectors in a junction box at the base of the sensor (no special connectors required).

The YOUNG Model 86000-SDI Ultrasonic Anemometer is a specialized version of the Model 86000. This model operates similarly to the Model 86000 but utilizes the SDI-12 (v1.3) serial communication protocol to minimize power consumption.
