The VOA1064nm Single-Mode Variable Optical Attenuator allows users to manually adjust the attenuation of optical signals as they pass through the device. These VOAs can be used to precisely balance signal strength in fiber optic loops or to equalize optical signals when evaluating the dynamic range of measurement systems. Rotating the adjustment screw by 10 turns achieves the calibrated attenuation value of the attenuator.

All embedded VOAs include single-mode fiber pigtails with Ø3 mm protective sleeves. These VOAs are either unterminated or feature 2.0 mm narrow-key FC/PC or FC/APC connectors at the ends.

Each attenuator is equipped with a lens that collimates the light emitted from the input fiber. It also includes an obstruction device that can be manually adjusted via a screw to alter the beam's x-y offset or angular offset. The beam then passes through a second lens, which couples it into the output fiber. This process changes the coupling efficiency until the desired attenuation level is achieved.
