The OFI400 is a handheld, low-cost fiber optic identifier that enables non-destructive testing of optical fibers. The OFI400C utilizes low insertion loss "macrobend" detection technology to identify optical signals without interrupting service or excessively squeezing the fiber. During the installation, cutting, splicing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems, the OFI400C is used to identify fibers carrying live traffic signals (CW) or modulated tone signals, and can also identify fibers with no signal. The OFI400C detection technology allows for gradual bending of the fiber under test over a short length. This technique ensures that the stress on the fiber remains low, features very low insertion loss, and provides high-sensitivity signal detection capability down to –50dBm.
