The analysis suggests that performance and service life of picks can be enhanced by improving raw material purity, modifying alloy composition, optimizing forming and sintering processes, controlling alloy grain size, and applying heat treatment to the alloy.

For the design of rotary drilling rig picks, the geometric shape should be developed according to a reasonable design methodology. Not only should the geometric shape be rationally designed, but the dimensions, corresponding geometric parameters, arrangement of picks, and cutting parameters must also be appropriately matched. During operation, this ensures that the cemented carbide picks bear forces evenly, experience uniform wear, maintain stability during movement, further improve pick efficiency, and minimize the likelihood of wear and damage, thereby enhancing pick reliability.
