Iron-based binder (pelletizing binder for iron ore pellets)

I. Utilizing composite polymer polymerization technology and an optimized chemical cross-linking system, it rapidly cures at room or medium-low temperatures to form a dense structure. The pellets exhibit a compressive strength of over 3000N per piece and excellent impact resistance, withstanding temperatures above 1500°C and reducing atmospheres during blast furnace smelting, ensuring no breakage or pulverization during transportation and production. For instance, for high-iron materials (TFe > 65%), the initial pelletization rate after briquetting with a roller press exceeds 98%, and the cold strength achieves no breakage after a 3-meter drop within 12 hours.
II. Adopting an environmentally friendly formula free of sulfur, silicon, and heavy metals, it can fully replace traditional bentonite or organic binders. Compared to bentonite, this binder not only avoids the issues of increased SiO₂ content and reduced grade caused by bentonite addition but also reduces environmental pollution and lowers energy consumption in the sintering process by 10%-15%. Additionally, its water solubility exceeds 99%, shortening the production cycle.
III. The addition amount is only 0.8%-1.5% (dry basis), significantly lower than traditional binders, and requires no additional drying process. Each ton of binder can produce 35-50 tons of product, effectively reducing overall production costs. The product is compatible with various processes such as disc pelletizing and drum pelletizing, seamlessly integrating with existing production lines. For example, in the pelletizing of mixed materials like steel converter dust + sludge or dust + mill scale, it enables rapid one-step forming and drying, with a pelletization rate ≥95%, without affecting the chemical composition and metallurgical properties of the pellets.
IV. Suitable for the forming of various metallurgical materials such as mill scale pellets, iron powder briquettes, steel slag powder briquettes, and alloy balls, it performs exceptionally well in processing difficult-to-pelletize materials like high-grade concentrates and vanadium-titanium magnetite. For instance, with steel plant dust containing CaO, this binder achieves fast consolidation without dissolving calcium oxide and prevents expansion, effectively addressing issues of pellet pulverization and insufficient strength. Currently, the product has been widely adopted by multiple steel plants and metallurgical enterprises, significantly enhancing pellet strength, permeability, and smelting recovery rates, earning unanimous industry recognition.
