Steel plant auxiliary material binders are a type of material used to agglomerate various auxiliary materials generated during steel production (such as ore powder, dust collection ash, sludge, return ore, steel slag powder, etc.). Their core function is to improve the physical properties of auxiliary materials, facilitating transportation, storage, or secondary utilization (e.g., as sintering/pelletizing raw materials, fuel, etc.), while simultaneously reducing dust pollution and resource waste.
Agglomeration binding: Binding loose powdered or granular auxiliary materials into blocks with certain strength (such as pellets or briquettes), preventing breakage and scattering during transportation or processing.
Performance optimization: Enhancing the high-temperature stability (e.g., resistance to thermal shock during sintering/smelting) and permeability (facilitating subsequent reactions) of the agglomerated materials.
Resource recycling: Converting previously difficult-to-utilize industrial solid waste (such as dust collection ash and steel slag) into reusable raw materials, reducing raw material costs.
Environmental protection and emission reduction: Reducing dust dispersion during the storage or transportation of auxiliary materials, thereby lowering air pollution; simultaneously promoting the resource utilization of solid waste and reducing the amount of solid waste sent to landfills.
Dust collection ash recycling: Dust collected by steel plant dust removal systems (containing 10%-40% iron) is pelletized using binders and returned to the sintering process for reuse, recovering iron resources.
Steel slag treatment: Steel slag powder (containing CaO, SiO₂, etc.) is formed using composite binders and used as cement additives or road base materials, reducing stockpiling space.
Sludge forming: Steelmaking sludge (with 30%-50% moisture content) is dewatered and formed using organic binders, serving as sintering fuel (due to its carbon content), achieving "waste-treats-waste" utilization.
Pellet production: Fine iron concentrate is pelletized using bentonite and composite binders to enhance pellet strength and high-temperature reducibility, partially replacing sintered ore.
