Condition adjustment is performed according to GB2918-82 "Standard Environment for Conditioning and Testing of Plastic Samples", temperature 23±5°C, humidity 0±10%. 5 Test conditions
During the test, the upper shaft remains stationary, the lower shaft rotates at 200 rpm, performing sliding friction for 2 hours, load 20 kg. Other loads can be selected based on the material. Test environment temperature 2 =5°C. ● Test steps
s.1 The ring should be cleaned of oil and stored in a dry container to prevent rust.
After conditioning, weigh the sample using an analytical balance with a sensitivity of 0.1 mg (m;).
Install the sample into the fixture, align the friction surface with a square so that its intersection with the ring is at the center of the sample. Install the friction torque recording paper, start the machine, and calibrate zero.
Again, carefully clean the sample and ring of oil using solvents like ethanol or acetone that do not react with plastics. After this, do not touch the surfaces of the sample and ring with hands.
Smoothly apply the load to the selected value.
After 2 hours of testing, stop the machine, remove the load, take out the sample and ring, clean the sample surface, and measure the wear scar width with a tool having an accuracy of at least 0.02 mm, or weigh the sample (m;) after storing it in the test environment for 1 hour.

When the two mating friction pairs are of the same metal or very similar metals, or metals that can form solid solution alloys, the friction is more severe. For example, the friction coefficient of a copper-copper pair can exceed 1.0, and that of an aluminum-iron pair is greater than 0.8. In contrast, pairs of different metals or metals with low affinity have lower friction coefficients, such as iron-silver with a friction coefficient of about 0.3.
Metals with very rough surfaces exhibit high friction coefficients because one surface must overcome the peaks of the other during sliding. However, metals with very smooth surfaces have even higher friction coefficients due to increased actual contact area and stronger molecular interactions between surfaces.
When the sliding speed does not cause changes in the surface layer properties of the material, the friction coefficient is almost independent of the sliding speed. However, under normal conditions, sliding speed causes a series of changes in the material surface layer, such as heating, deformation, chemical changes, etc., thereby affecting the friction coefficient.
