Drop Hammer Impact Test

Introduction:

Drop weight impact test generally refers to the drop weight test, also known as the falling weight test. It is an impact testing method. A heavy hammer falls from different heights onto the specimen (sheet, film, product) to determine the relationship between the drop height and the specimen's failure rate. The drop height at a 50% failure rate is used to indicate the specimen's impact resistance. It is a special impact test used to determine the nil-ductility transition (NDT) temperature of steel. The main testing equipment is the drop weight testing machine.
