Carbohydrazide is highly soluble in water with endothermic dissolution, and insoluble in alcohols, ethers, and benzene. As a derivative of hydrazine, it exhibits strong reducibility, is non-hygroscopic, non-toxic, and can serve as a substitute for hydrazine hydrate and oximes. Carbohydrazide is widely used, primarily as a deoxidizer in boiler water systems.

Usage Method: When used as a boiler deoxidizer, carbohydrazide can be added directly to water or applied as an aqueous solution. The dosage is 0.5 mol carbohydrazide per 1 mol O₂, with an appropriate excess. The applicable temperature range is 87.8–176.7°C. Application should occur after thermal deaeration.

Carbohydrazide has broad industrial applications:
● Water Treatment: Used as a deoxidizer in boiler water, offering low toxicity, high melting point, and excellent deoxygenation efficiency. It is a widely used, safe, and environmentally friendly product.
● Textile Industry: Functions as a cross-linking agent for elastic fibers, a formaldehyde scavenger, and an antioxidant for pigments such as carotene.
● Soap Stabilizer: In soaps containing phenolic bactericides, adding an appropriate amount of carbohydrazide helps prevent discoloration and rancidity.
● Antioxidant for rubber, passivating agent for metals.
● Can be used as an intermediate in energetic materials or directly as a component in rocket propellants and explosives.
● As a chemical raw material and intermediate, it is widely used in pharmaceuticals, herbicides, plant growth regulators, dyes, and other industries.
