Product Story:
The Wassily Chair was designed in 1925. It was the first tubular steel chair designed by Marcel Breuer and also the world's first tubular steel chair. Inspired by an Adler bicycle, it set a precedent in the design of tubular steel chairs. To commemorate Vassily Kandinsky, a master of abstract art, Breuer named this chair the "Wassily Chair". It carries a strong aesthetic of machinery; its main frame is formed by welding, making the design more like a machine. In particular, the belt used as armrests is exactly like a conveyor belt on a machine, and the backrest suspended on a horizontal axis further enhances a sense of movement found in machinery.
