Test stakes, also known as inspection stakes, can be categorized by material into steel test stakes, cement test stakes, plastic-steel test stakes, and carbon steel test stakes. Based on the usage environment, they can be classified as urban network test stakes, buried pipeline test stakes, etc. They are primarily used for detecting cathodic protection parameters and are essential devices in pipeline management and maintenance, deployed along the route according to testing functions. Test stakes can be used for measuring pipeline potential, current, and insulation performance, as well as for coating leak detection and testing AC/DC interference.
Classification of test stakes:
1. By material: Steel test stakes, cement test stakes, plastic test stakes. Steel test stakes are further divided into carbon steel test stakes and stainless steel test stakes.
2. By function:
Potential test stakes: Mainly used for detecting protection potential.
Sacrificial anode test stakes: Used to connect sacrificial anodes and measure their performance parameters.
Current test stakes: Measure current in the pipeline.
Protection effect test stakes: Connect test coupons.
Products of different shapes and specifications can be manufactured according to customer requirements.
Installation of test stakes:
a. Test stakes, or inspection head devices, are set up to understand the cathodic protection potential of pipelines. Through the inspection head, cathodic protection parameters such as the protection potential of the pipeline can be measured, allowing analysis of the pipeline's cathodic protection status and adjustments to the protection facilities.
b. Test stakes should be placed 1.5m from the pipeline center. When anode burial is restricted, test stakes can be buried on the pipe trench. Based on the distance from the test stake to the pipeline weld point, the main anode cable, and the reference electrode, calculate the required lengths of welding cable, main anode cable, and reference cable. Dig the test stake pit and place the test stake, marking the stake type, number, and mileage on the stake plate.
c. The connection of test cables and energization point cables on the test stake to the pipeline is done using thermite welding.
Common test stake specifications: 2000 × Φ 108 × 4mm; 1800 × Φ 89 × 3mm; 1200 × 120 × 120mm; 1600 × 500 × 300mm, etc.
