The essence of lightning is that when the electric charge in thunderclouds continuously changes and increases, the electric field strength also continuously changes and intensifies. Therefore, by monitoring changes in electric field strength and analyzing its trends, it is possible to predict whether a lightning strike will occur.

The interaction between solar wind, plasma, and the geomagnetic field in the magnetosphere forms an atmospheric electric field layer between the solar wind and the magnetosphere.
