Flexible anodes, made of conductive polymer, feature no connection points in the middle and excellent sealing to prevent the copper core from chemical corrosion, ensuring the anode's service life. At the same time, since flexible anodes can be laid close to the pipeline over long distances, they provide protection to the pipeline, achieving lower grounding resistance, which helps reduce system output and improve the economic efficiency of cathodic protection. The output current of flexible anodes is evenly distributed, ensuring uniform current distribution even if the pipeline coating is severely damaged, thereby achieving uniform cathodic protection potential distribution and avoiding over-protection or under-protection. Flexible anodes can be laid directly close to the pipeline, significantly reducing current leakage and improving the efficiency of protection current utilization. Installation is simple and flexible, allowing users to cut the anode to any length and bend it appropriately according to on-site conditions. Additionally, since flexible anodes are pre-filled with coke, no additional filler is required during installation, greatly reducing construction intensity. Flexible anodes primarily address the cathodic protection issues of aging pipelines with coatings and are widely used in the cathodic protection of both new and existing pipelines and storage tanks. This includes oil and natural gas transmission pipelines, cathodic protection for oil storage tank bottoms, urban gas transmission and distribution pipelines, as well as cathodic protection for water supply and sewage pipelines. They can also be used in industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, and power plant water treatment. How are flexible anodes installed? Before laying the conductive polymer flexible anode, it is necessary to first check whether the depth of the trench for laying the flexible anode meets the initial design requirements. Then, verify whether the direction of the trench matches the orientation specified in the design drawings. Finally, appropriately adjust the corners of the flexible anode to allow it to bend naturally. During the laying process, the flexible anode should not be dragged on the ground or rubbed against concrete piles to avoid breaking the outer woven bag, which could cause carbon powder leakage and affect its service life. While laying, the flexible anode should be allowed to stretch and bend naturally without being forcibly straightened, to prevent breakage during later backfilling and compaction. After installation, use a multimeter to check the continuity of the flexible anode. Both ends of the flexible anode on the same line should be conductive, with no open circuits in the middle. Then, measure and confirm the length of the flexible anode, ensuring the error is within a reasonable range. Finally, uniformly mark the nameplates and make clear labels to facilitate later cable connections. Afterward, backfill with sand and soil.
