Product Introduction

Hydrofluoric acid is a clear, colorless corrosive liquid with a strong pungent odor. It has a melting point of -83.3°C, a boiling point of 19.54°C, and a density of 1.15 g/mL, and is highly soluble in water. Liquid HF is an extremely strong acidic solvent capable of protonating sulfuric acid and nitric acid. However, HF is a weak acid in aqueous solution, with its acidity increasing when the concentration exceeds 5 mol/L. It is highly corrosive and can etch glass and silicates to produce gaseous silicon tetrafluoride, but it does not corrode polyethylene, lead, or platinum.

Main Applications:

Purification of aluminum and uranium.

Etching glass for engraving patterns, marking scales, and text.

Removal of oxides from silicon surfaces in the semiconductor industry; used as a catalyst in refineries to remove oxygen-containing impurities from stainless steel surfaces. The "acid pickling" process also utilizes hydrofluoric acid.
