Potential issues during the application of polyurethane paint:
Slow drying of the paint film: This may be due to high environmental humidity, low temperature, or improper selection of thinner, which hinders solvent evaporation. It is necessary to control the application temperature and humidity (recommended temperature ≥15°C, humidity ≤80%) and choose the appropriate thinner.
Wrinkling of the paint film: Caused by thick coating or applying the topcoat before the underlying layer is fully dry, leading to uneven solvent evaporation and shrinkage. Follow the principle of "thin coats, multiple layers" and ensure each layer is dry before applying the next.
Bubbles/Pinholes: Result from air introduced during stirring or high moisture content in the substrate. Allow the paint to sit to eliminate bubbles before application, and ensure the substrate is dry (moisture content <8%) and clean.
Poor adhesion: Caused by insufficient sanding of the substrate or the presence of oil, dirt, or moisture on the surface. Thoroughly sand to a rough surface and clean it. Using a compatible primer can enhance adhesion.
