| Condensation polymerization with formaldehyde produces melamine resin, which is used in the plastics and coatings industries, as well as an anti-wrinkle and anti-shrinkage treatment agent for textiles. Its modified resins can be used to produce metal coatings with bright colors, durability, and high hardness. It is also used in the manufacture of sturdy, heat-resistant decorative laminates, moisture-proof paper, gray leather tanning agents, adhesives for synthetic fire-resistant laminates, and as a fixative or hardener for waterproofing agents. The 582 melamine resin, produced from melamine, formaldehyde, and butanol, is particularly effective as a leveling agent for solvent-based polyurethane coatings. | |
