Silicon carbide heating elements are hard and brittle. Handle them with care during transportation, inspection, and installation. Store them in a dry, well-ventilated area to prevent oxidation of the aluminum-sprayed sections. If oxidation occurs, re-spray with aluminum; if aluminum spraying equipment is unavailable, wrap the area tightly with several layers of aluminum foil. For newly built or long-unused kilns, pre-dry the kiln using other heat sources or aged elements before use. Avoid using new rods for kiln drying. When using silicon carbide heating elements, equip them with voltage regulation devices to ensure that the rods can still obtain corresponding power even after resistance aging. When replacing rods due to breakage or aging, consider the degree of aging and the circuit connection method. Aim for matching high-temperature resistance values, balanced load distribution, and extended service life. The installation holes on both sides of the furnace chamber (inner diameter of heat-resistant insulating ceramic tubes) are generally 1.5 times the diameter of the cold end of the element, with concentric holes and a distance between holes of no less than 3 times the element diameter. After installation, the elements should be rotatable, and connections between element ends should be made with flexible wires. The distance between the elements and the furnace wall or the product being fired should be no less than twice the element diameter. When selecting silicon carbide heating elements, ensure that the heated length of the element does not exceed the width (or height) of the furnace chamber. Choose a reasonable surface load based on the element's operating temperature and environmental atmosphere. The resistance of silicon carbide heating elements is measured at 1050°C (±50°C). During installation, assemble the elements according to their resistance values. Before installation, match the resistance of silicon carbide rods. Connect rods with the same or similar resistance values, keeping the resistance error within approximately 0.1. Connect the cold ends of the silicon carbide rods to the main circuit using aluminum braids or aluminum foil. Tighten the clamps on the cold ends twice (i.e., retighten after heating).
