U-shaped silicon carbide heating tubes for aluminum industry holding furnaces and die-casting furnaces

(1) When silicon carbide rods are heated in the air, a dense silicon oxide film forms on the surface, creating an anti-oxidation protective layer that extends their lifespan. In recent years, various coatings have been developed to prevent degradation, making them suitable for use in furnaces with various gases.

(2) The greater the current applied to the silicon carbide rod, the higher its surface temperature. It is recommended to use the smallest possible surface load density (power). Please note that the values recorded for the cold end correspond to a current and voltage at 1050°C in air and may not match actual usage conditions. Generally, the surface power is determined based on the relationship between the furnace temperature and the surface temperature. It is advisable to use a surface power (W/cm²) that is 1/2 to 1/3 of the maximum density.

(3) For continuous use, it is recommended to gradually increase the resistance to maintain a long lifespan.

(4) Whenever possible, connect them in parallel. If their resistance values differ, connecting them in series may cause a concentration of load on the higher resistance rod, leading to rapid resistance increase and a shortened lifespan.
