In the ceramic industry, push-plate kilns are widely used, with push plates being their fundamental auxiliary materials. During the operation of push-plate kilns, these plates are required to withstand the load of ceramic bodies or saggars, significant compressive forces, and frictional resistance with the tracks at high temperatures without fracturing. Their thermal cycling service life can reach dozens or even hundreds of cycles. Therefore, push plates must possess high strength at both room temperature and elevated temperatures, excellent wear resistance, and outstanding thermal shock stability.

Currently, the commonly used push plates domestically and internationally are silicon carbide-based and corundum-mullite-based. Silicon carbide-based push plates primarily consist of silicon oxide-bonded silicon carbide. Silicon carbide exhibits significant oxidation above 1,300°C, making it suitable for some low-end manufacturing sectors or applications with lower kiln temperatures. Major current application areas include push-plate kilns for lithium battery cathode materials and calcination push-plate kilns for inorganic powders.

Due to its low density, high specific strength, good thermal conductivity, stable chemical properties, and relatively low thermal expansion coefficient, silicon carbide is well-suited as a raw material for bearings or high-temperature furnace components. It can be used in various smelting furnace linings, high-temperature kiln components, silicon carbide plates, lining boards, support elements, saggars, silicon carbide crucibles, and more.
