Silicon molybdenum rod heating elements are high-temperature resistant, oxidation-resistant resistive heating elements made from molybdenum disilicide. When used in high-temperature oxidizing atmospheres, a bright and dense quartz (SiO2) glass layer forms on the surface, protecting the inner layer of the silicon molybdenum rod from further oxidation, giving it unique high-temperature oxidation resistance.
In an oxidizing atmosphere at temperatures up to 1700°C, the resistance of silicon molybdenum rod heating elements increases rapidly with rising temperature, stabilizing when the temperature remains constant. Under normal conditions, the resistance of the element does not change over time, allowing new and old silicon molybdenum rod heating elements to be used together.
Proper selection of the surface load of the heating element based on the structure of the heating equipment, the working atmosphere, and temperature is crucial for the service life of silicon molybdenum rod heating elements.
