Geotextile is a new type of building material, made from synthetic fibers of high molecular polymers such as polyester, polypropylene, acrylic, and nylon. According to the manufacturing method, it is divided into two types: woven geotextile and non-woven geotextile. Generally, non-woven geotextile is mainly used in engineering. Geotextile has multiple functions such as impermeability, filtration, drainage, isolation, reinforcement, protection, and sealing. Compared with conventional stone and concrete materials for impermeability, it offers advantages such as lower investment, simpler construction, shorter construction period, better impermeability, and higher effective utilization coefficient of channels. Geotextile can be divided into filament geotextile and short-filament geotextile.
Main Functions:
1: Isolation
Using polyester short-filament needle-punched geotextile to isolate building materials with different physical properties (such as particle size, distribution, consistency, and density), such as soil and sand, soil and concrete. It prevents the loss and mixing of two or more materials, maintains the overall structure and function of the materials, and enhances the load-bearing capacity of the structure.
2: Filtration (Reverse Filtration)
When water flows from a fine soil layer into a coarse soil layer, the good air permeability and water permeability of polyester short-filament needle-punched geotextile allow water to pass through while effectively intercepting soil particles, fine sand, small stones, etc., to maintain the stability of water and soil engineering.
3: Drainage
Polyester short-filament needle-punched geotextile has good water conductivity. It can form drainage channels inside the soil, discharging excess liquid and gas from the soil structure.
4: Reinforcement
Using polyester short-filament needle-punched geotextile to enhance the tensile strength and deformation resistance of the soil, improving the stability of the building structure and the quality of the soil.
5: Protection
When water flow scours the soil, it effectively disperses, transfers, or decomposes concentrated stress, preventing the soil from being damaged by external forces and protecting the soil.
6: Puncture Resistance
Combined with geomembrane, it becomes a composite waterproof and impermeable material, providing puncture resistance.
It features high tensile strength, good permeability, air permeability, resistance to high heat, freezing, aging, corrosion, and is moth-proof.
Polyester short-filament needle-punched geotextile is a widely used geosynthetic material. It is used in projects such as reinforcement of railway subgrades, maintenance of road surfaces, sports stadiums, protection of dams, isolation in hydraulic structures, tunnels, coastal mudflats, land reclamation, and environmental protection.
