General pressure gauges are local indicating pressure gauges that display pressure on-site without remote transmission, display, or adjustment functions. In industrial process control and technical measurement, due to the high mechanical strength of the elastic sensing elements in general pressure gauges, as well as their ease of production, simple installation, and convenient reading, these gauges are increasingly widely used.

Working Principle:

The pressure gauge uses the elastic deformation of its internal sensing element—the Bourdon tube. Through the conversion mechanism of the internal movement, the elastic deformation of the Bourdon tube is converted into rotational motion, causing the pointer to deflect and display the pressure.

Bourdon tubes are classified into C-type tubes, spiral tubes, and helical tubes. They are generally made of cold-worked hardened materials (commonly copper alloys), which exhibit high plasticity in the annealed state and acquire high elasticity and strength after cold working, hardening, and stabilization treatment.

The cross-section of the C-type Bourdon tube sensing element is elliptical. The pressure of the measured medium acts on the inner side of the Bourdon tube, causing the elliptical cross-section to tend toward a circular shape. Due to the slight deformation of the Bourdon tube, a certain hoop stress is generated. This hoop stress causes the Bourdon tube to extend outward. Since the head of the elastic Bourdon tube is not fixed, it produces a small deformation.

4) Reference Operating Conditions

Under the following conditions, the basic error, hysteresis, light tap displacement, and smoothness of pointer deflection of the gauge shall comply with the relevant provisions of this standard.

a) Ambient temperature: 20°C ± 5°C;

b) The gauge is in the normal operating position;

c) Load changes uniformly;

Note: Unless otherwise specified, the normal operating position refers to vertical installation.

5) Temperature Influence: Not more than 0.4%/10°C (when the operating temperature deviates from 20±5°C);

6) Implementation Standard: GB/T1226-2010;^[1-2]

Usage Precautions:

1) The working pressure should ideally be between 1/3 and 2/3 of the full scale. The maximum usage range should not exceed 3/4 of the full scale.

2) The calibration cycle generally should not exceed six months. For applications with significant pressure fluctuations, frequent use, high accuracy requirements, or strict safety requirements, the calibration cycle may be appropriately shortened based on specific conditions.

3) The working environment should be free of corrosive gases.
