Working Principle of Roots Vacuum Pump

The pump chamber contains a pair of synchronously counter-rotating high-speed figure-8-shaped rotors. During operation, the two rotors create suction and exhaust effects within the pump chamber. The Roots pump cannot exhaust independently and must be used in series with a backing pump (such as a screw pump, vane pump, water ring pump, etc.).

Roots pumps are divided into two types: the standard DR type and the DRP type with an overflow valve.
