Fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) cable trays refer to cable ladders, cable trays, and metal wire ducts. FRP cable trays are mainly made of steel, aluminum alloy, and fiberglass reinforced plastic. The surface treatment of FRP cable trays includes painting, powder coating, electro-galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing, and electrostatic powder spraying. The installation of cable trays mainly involves installation along the ceiling, horizontal and vertical installation along walls, installation along shafts, installation along the ground, and installation along cable trenches and pipe supports. The supports (hangers) used for installation can be either pre-fabricated or custom-made. The fixing methods for supports (hangers) mainly include welding on pre-embedded iron parts and expansion bolt fixation. The installation of steel cable trays must comply with the following regulations:
1. When the length of a straight steel cable tray exceeds 30m, or the length of an aluminum alloy or FRP cable tray exceeds 15m, expansion joints should be installed. Compensation devices should be set at building deformation joints for FRP cable trays.
2. Hangers or supports should be installed at the following locations for FRP cable trays:
2.1 At both ends of the cable tray joint, 0.5m from each end;
2.2 At intervals of 1.5 to 3m;
2.3 At turns;
2.4 Every 1.5 meters for vertical cable trays.
3. Hangers and supports should be installed vertically, neatly, and firmly, without any tilting.
4. Bolts on the cable tray connection plate should be tightly fastened without omission, and nuts should be located on the outside of the tray.
5. Cable trays should be laid below flammable and explosive gas pipelines and thermal pipelines.
6. Metal cable trays and their supports should be grounded or connected to zero at no fewer than two points along their entire length.
7. Connection plates between metal cable trays should have no fewer than two locking nuts or lock washers at both ends, and a copper grounding wire with a cross-section of no less than 4mm² should be connected across both ends.
8. The installation of cable trays should meet the following requirements:
8.1 The left-right deviation of the cable tray should not exceed 50mm;
8.2 The horizontal deviation per meter of the cable tray should not exceed 2mm;
8.3 The vertical deviation of the cable tray should not exceed 3mm.
9 Steel cable trays should be installed below flammable and explosive gas pipelines and thermal pipelines. When there are no design requirements, the minimum clear distance from pipelines should comply with relevant regulations.
