Measurement PrinciplePrinciple 

Formaldoxime Spectrophotometry. After digestion of the water sample, under alkaline conditions, divalent manganese ions in the sample are oxidized by dissolved oxygen to tetravalent manganese ions, which form a reddish-brown complex with the chromogenic agent. The color change is proportional to the manganese content in the sample. The absorbance is measured at a specific wavelength, and the manganese concentration in the water sample is calculated.
