Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride

Nature: Anhydrous hydrogen fluoride is a colorless transparent liquid at low temperatures, with a boiling point of 19.4°C, a melting point of -83.37°C, and a specific gravity of 1.008 (25°C/4°C). It is highly volatile at room temperature, forming a mist. Its chemical properties are extremely reactive; it can react with bases, metal oxides, silicates, etc. Under certain conditions, it can freely mix with water to form hydrofluoric acid. It has a strong irritating odor and is highly corrosive to the mucous membranes of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat. It severely corrodes human teeth and bones, leading to calcification.

Uses: Anhydrous hydrogen fluoride is widely used in the atomic energy, chemical, and petroleum industries. It is a strong oxidizing agent and serves as a basic raw material for producing elemental fluorine, various fluorine refrigerants, inorganic fluorides, and various organic fluorides. It can be formulated into hydrofluoric acid of various concentrations for different applications, such as in graphite manufacturing, catalysts for organic compounds, glass etching agents, etc.
