Introduction:
The Lunar Environment Simulation Chamber can conduct various ground-coupled simulation experiments of lunar environments, accurately reproducing the lunar surface environment. This provides a technical foundation for comprehensive and effective ground testing and validation of related systems and equipment, lunar surface activities, and operations in manned lunar exploration missions, ensuring astronaut safety and offering technical support for integrated environmental simulation tests in manned lunar exploration.
Functions:
During manned lunar exploration missions, astronauts and exploration systems will face the complex and unique integrated environment of the lunar surface. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the lunar surface environment to achieve a more realistic representation. The Lunar Environment Simulation Chamber can simulate temperature, ultra-high vacuum, solar radiation, low gravity, surface heat flow, lunar terrain, and lunar dust/soil environments, with the capability to simulate multiple coupling effects. The main functions of the Lunar Environment Simulation Chamber include:
1. Temperature Control: Simulating the lunar surface temperature. Due to the absence of an atmosphere for insulation and heat transfer, the temperature difference between day and night on the lunar surface is extreme, making simulation challenging. The chamber can simulate the full range of extreme temperatures from the lowest to the highest on the lunar surface.
2. Pressure Control: Simulating the lunar surface pressure. The pressure on the lunar surface is extremely low, and this system can achieve ultra-high vacuum levels to replicate lunar surface pressure conditions.
3. Solar Radiation: Capable of simulating full-spectrum solar radiation over a large irradiation area.
4. Low Gravity: Simulating lunar surface gravity. The lunar gravitational acceleration is only one-sixth that of Earth. Simulating lunar gravity enables astronauts to practice lunar surface walking skills and study the reliability of spacecraft movement on the lunar surface.
5. Lunar Dust/Soil: Using specialized simulation materials to replicate lunar dust/soil, which can be categorized into electrostatic and non-electrostatic simulations. Lunar dust/soil poses significant hazards to spacecraft equipment, making it essential to simulate these environments to test the performance of aerospace equipment.
6. Lunar Terrain: Simulating the movement of spacecraft over uneven lunar terrain. Pitch and roll simulations of rovers are achieved through screw lifting mechanisms.
