Introduction:
The Polar Environment Simulation Chamber is a laboratory capable of simulating the harsh natural environments of the Arctic and Antarctic regions, particularly replicating extreme cold, aridity, and strong winds. It provides a reliability testing base for instruments, equipment, and materials used in extreme environments, as well as a training site for personnel to adapt to such conditions.
Functions:
1) The Polar Environment Simulation Chamber can replicate the three major environmental features of the polar regions: extreme cold, aridity, and strong winds, recreating various static low-temperature and low-pressure climatic conditions across a wide temperature range in coastal, inland, and polar plateau areas.
2) Simulate harsh weather conditions such as strong winds, blowing snow, and blizzards in polar regions.
3) Simulate unique polar phenomena like temperature inversions, polar day and night cycles, and the dynamic climatic changes between cold and warm seasons.
4) Simulate polar environments in regions with normal temperature and pressure, free from natural constraints like time and space, with special environmental replication designs tailored to specific experimental needs.
5) Conduct impact tests within the chamber to evaluate equipment performance under drastic changes in working conditions, such as those encountered in polar expeditions.
6) Provide a testing environment for studying the durability, reliability, and stability of polar scientific equipment, materials, and detection devices, offering valuable information for the research, design, production, and use of such products.
7) Serve as a venue for training personnel to withstand extreme environmental conditions.
8) Offer a facility for integrated research on the overall effectiveness of human-machine-environment systems, comprehensively studying the performance of human-machine systems in polar extreme environments.
9) Provide foundational research infrastructure for scientific activities such as upper-atmosphere physical observations, meteorological monitoring, studies of Earth's ecological environment evolution, coastal marine environment monitoring, long-term glacier monitoring, and atmospheric chemical sampling.
Parameters:
I. Antarctic:
1) Temperature: -90°C to 0°C (Dome A), average -25°C;
2) Strong winds: Maximum 100 m/s, average 18 m/s;
3) Blowing snow: Wind force level 5 (8-10 m/s);
4) Snowstorms: Wind force above 20 m/s;
5) Annual precipitation: 3 mm to 500 mm (snowfall);
6) Atmospheric pressure: Normal pressure to 57 kPa;
7) Polar day and night: Depending on specific conditions;
8) Light reflectivity: 80% to 84%;
II. Arctic:
1) Temperature: -70°C to -8°C;
2) Annual precipitation: 100 to 500 mm;
(All above parameters can be custom-designed according to user requirements.)
