Introduction
The wheel-on-wheel configuration employs an independently driven dual-disc structure, providing rolling-sliding contact with a wide range of contact pressures.
The roller-on-roller device is widely accepted as a reliable testing machine for FZG tests.

Multiple Friction Modes
A versatile system capable of altering test configurations from line contact (roller-on-roller) to area (pin-on-roller or block-on-roller) or point (roller-on-ball) contact. In addition to ease of operation, it facilitates high-throughput research.
Speed Control
The speed of each roller is independently controlled by two servo motors. Thus, variable slip ratios (0 - 200%) can be achieved by setting different spindle speeds. The direction of motion can be set to clockwise or counterclockwise to simulate lubricant entrainment and reverse entrainment (starved lubrication) conditions.
Friction Torque and Linear Wear Sensors
Friction torque is generated during the motion of the contacting rollers. The friction torque is captured by a torque sensor. Linear displacement of the rollers due to creep and wear is measured via a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) fixed to the top stationary block of the spindle.
Automatic Loading
The dual-disc friction and wear testing machine consists of two parallel spindles, each driven by a variable-speed motor, automatic loading unit, heating unit, friction torque sensor, and linear wear sensor.
The servo-controlled loading system offers a wide range of contact pressures and flexibility with continuous, ramp, and custom loading profiles.
Temperature Measurement and Control
Experiments can be conducted under lubricated or dry conditions. The temperature within the oil cup is controlled by embedded heaters and temperature sensors. Under dry test conditions, a high-temperature module is available as an option to accommodate higher temperatures.
