Steam generator backwash: After operating for a period of time, the equipment will accumulate many impurities brought by the raw water in the upper part of the resin. Only after removing these impurities can the ion exchange resin be fully exposed, ensuring the effectiveness of regeneration. The backwashing process involves water entering from the bottom of the resin and flowing out from the top, which washes away the impurities trapped at the top. This process generally takes about 5-15 minutes.
Steam generator brine injection (regeneration): This is the process of injecting brine into the resin tank. Traditional equipment uses a brine pump to inject the brine, while fully automated equipment uses a dedicated built-in nozzle to wash the brine in (as long as there is a certain pressure in the incoming water). In actual operation, the regeneration effect of brine flowing slowly through the resin is better than simply soaking the resin in brine. Therefore, water softening equipment uses the method of slow brine flow through the resin for regeneration. This process generally takes about 30 minutes, though the actual time is affected by the amount of salt used.
Steam generator slow rinse (displacement): After the brine flows through the resin, the process of slowly rinsing all the salt out of the resin with raw water at the same flow rate is called slow rinsing. During this rinsing process, a large number of calcium and magnesium ions on the functional groups are still exchanged with sodium ions. Based on practical experience, this is the main stage of regeneration, so many people refer to this process as taking 5-15 minutes.
