Working Principle of Carbon Deoxidation Purification Unit

Raw nitrogen with an oxygen content of less than 0.1% enters the deoxidizer of the purification unit. At high temperatures, oxygen fully reacts with the carbon in the carbon-supported deoxidizing agent to form carbon dioxide (C+O₂=CO₂), reducing the residual oxygen content to below 10 ppm.

The deoxidized nitrogen is cooled by a cooler and then enters the dryer. Carbon dioxide and residual moisture are deeply removed in the dryer. The dryer, equipped with molecular sieves, consists of two units: one performs adsorption drying, while the other regenerates the saturated dryer through high-temperature treatment for standby use. The final nitrogen dew point at atmospheric pressure can be lower than -60°C.

The purified gas is stored in a pure nitrogen tank and then delivered to the point of use.


Process Flow of Carbon Deoxidation Purification Unit

Raw nitrogen enters the deoxidizer of the purification unit, which is equipped with two deoxidizers containing carbon-supported deoxidizing agents. Oxygen reacts with carbon at 300°C–350°C to form carbon dioxide, thereby removing oxygen from the nitrogen. One deoxidizer serves as a backup while the other operates, with a typical operating cycle of about one month. Subsequently, carbon dioxide and moisture in the gas are adsorbed by the molecular sieves in the dryer. The dryer operates at room temperature and is regenerated through heating. The final nitrogen contains impurities of less than 1 ppm oxygen and carbon dioxide, with a moisture content of less than 10 ppm. The unit is equipped with low-temperature and low-pressure alarms for the deoxidizer, as well as a purity alarm for the final nitrogen quality, ensuring safe and effective system monitoring.
