VPSAIndustrial Wastewater TreatmentOxygen Generator consists of an air blower, vacuum pump, oxygen production adsorption towers, product storage tank, pressure equalization buffer tank, and pipeline control valves. It is controlled by a computer program and driven by hydraulic pressure to operate the relevant control valves, achieving the separation of oxygen from air.

Main Components of the VPSA Industrial Wastewater Treatment Oxygen Generator

1. Inlet Air Filter

The inlet air filter consists of inner and outer layers of filtration screens to remove mechanical impurities from the air. A differential pressure gauge is installed to indicate whether maintenance is required.

2. Centrifugal Raw Air Blower and Vacuum Blower

The raw air blower used in this system is a 2057-RAS-JV type Roots blower, which supplies air to the adsorption beds. Its design flow rate is 50,000 m³/h. The vacuum blower is a 2070VJ-V type Roots blower, providing vacuum for adsorbent regeneration and exhaust gas discharge, with a design flow rate of 65,500 m³/h. Both blowers are driven by a single 2,235 kW motor. The vacuum blower is equipped with a seal water system for sealing, lubrication, and cooling.

3. Seal Water System

Seal water is delivered from the equipment frame to the inlet pipeline of each stage of the vacuum blower. Its pressure is controlled by a pressure regulating valve. During operation, the shut-off valve opens to supply seal water; it closes when the blower stops. When the inlet valve is open, the drain valve is closed. When the inlet valve closes, the drain valve opens to depressurize the inlet valve and ensure no water is sent to the vacuum blower. The seal water flow rate for each stage is controlled by a flow regulating valve. If the flow rate of any stage falls below the set value of the flow switch, it will trigger a shutdown.

During normal operation, seal water is carried by waste nitrogen to the vacuum separation silencer for discharge. When the vacuum blower stops, residual water returns to the equipment frame via the drain pipeline for discharge. The drain valve closes during operation and opens when the blower stops.

4. Dual Adsorption Beds

The dual adsorption beds are filled with 13X and specialized pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen molecular sieve adsorbents. The 13X and PSA molecular sieves are used to adsorb moisture, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen from the air. The adsorbents are radially distributed within the beds to reduce the impact of axial airflow on the molecular sieves. The top of the molecular sieve is sealed and compressed with a rubber membrane to prevent vertical movement, while protective oxygen at approximately 15 PSIA (1 PSIA = 6.89476 kPa) is introduced into the protective layer. A steel plate at the bottom directs the airflow upward, allowing it to enter the molecular sieve evenly from the sides. A wire mesh prevents radial movement of the molecular sieve.

5. Automatic Switching Valves

These valves feature the significant advantage of fault-free operation for over 1,500,000 cycles.

6. Instrument Air Compressor System

The VPSA system uses an instrument air compressor and a配套 dryer to supply instrument air. Each unit has a power of 37 kW and can provide 3.8 m³/min of air. The control air source system can utilize the factory's air pipeline network.

7. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) System

The complete VPSA system is equipped with DMACS operating software, allowing access to the control system's operating interface (OIU) via the DMACS platform. This computer system remains operational even if the PC crashes, and with adequate communication, remote control can be achieved from anywhere.

8. Auxiliary Equipment for Blowers

Auxiliary equipment includes inlet and outlet silencers, vacuum separation silencers, and exhaust gas silencers. The separation silencer is used to separate waste gas and seal water from the vacuum blower outlet. Waste gas is directly discharged into the atmosphere, while seal water is discharged into a collection well, serving as a nitrogen seal.

9. Oxygen Compressor System

Depending on the oxygen production capacity of the VPSA and user requirements, vertical, two-stage, three-column piston compressors can be selected. Each oxygen compressor has a discharge capacity of 5,000 m³/h and a rated outlet pressure of 0.8 MPa.


II. Features of the VPSA Industrial Wastewater Treatment Oxygen Generator

1. Advantages

This low-pressure adsorption oxygen production process offers the following advantages compared to traditional cryogenic air separation methods:

1) Fast startup (within approximately half an hour).

2) Short construction period and lower investment, about 75% of the investment for cryogenic oxygen generators of the same capacity.

3) Small footprint. A single VPSA unit occupies approximately 300 m².

4) Low energy consumption. Power consumption is only 0.33 kWh per cubic meter of oxygen.

5) Strong adaptability to load changes, adjustable within a 0–100% load range.

6) Capable of standby operation. When oxygen demand decreases or is temporarily unnecessary, the system can enter standby mode, operating in an energy-saving state, significantly reducing energy consumption, grid fluctuations, and wear from startups and shutdowns.

7) High degree of automation, with oxygen production largely automated.

8) Fewer operators required, reducing staffing by 50% compared to cryogenic oxygen production methods.
