The fundamental criteria for all biodegradability certification programs—and to protect the environment, TÜV Austria
- Confirms the prohibition of intentional use of homopolymer polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyamide (PA), rubber (polyisoprene), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from its certified compositions, regardless of concentration, for all products.
- Prohibits the use of polyethylene wax and homopolymer polyvinylidene
dichloride (PVDC), regardless of concentration, in products by December 31, 2026.
New applications, extensions, and renewals are permitted. However, the validity of such certificates is always limited to December 31, 2026.
TÜV Austria strongly encourages its certificate holders to modify their compositions
and include these in the extended certification process before December 31, 2026.
Ink series and adhesives are currently not restricted.
Focuses solely on homopolymers.
Components and products not mentioned in this notice will continue to follow the same
certification rules of the certification program.
