The working principle of the bucket elevator's conveying system is as follows: the buckets scoop up material from the storage below, lift it to the top with the conveyor belt or chain, then flip over after passing around the top wheel, discharging the material into the receiving chute. Belt-driven bucket elevators typically use rubber belts, installed on the drive pulley at the bottom or top and the redirecting pulleys at both ends. Chain-driven bucket elevators are generally equipped with two parallel drive chains, with a pair of drive sprockets at the top or bottom and a pair of redirecting sprockets at the opposite end. Bucket elevators are usually equipped with casings, to prevent dust from spreading within the elevator.
