Q420B Coil Composition and Characteristic Properties

Q420B is a high-strength low-alloy steel widely used in structural engineering fields such as construction, bridges, ships, vehicles, and pressure vessels. "Q" stands for "yield strength," "420" indicates its yield strength of 420 MPa, and "B" denotes its quality grade, typically implying good impact toughness.

The chemical composition of Q420B mainly includes basic elements such as carbon, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur, as well as possible trace alloying elements like vanadium, niobium, and titanium, which help enhance the steel's strength and toughness. The increase in carbon content gives Q420B a higher yield strength compared to the Q390 series.
