Shelf racking is one of the most common and widely used types of warehouse storage racks, known for its flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and practicality.
I. Core Features and Structure
Shelf racking primarily consists of three basic components: upright columns, beams, and shelves.
Structural Features: Typically designed as an assembled structure without welding, making installation and disassembly very convenient. The height of the shelves can be flexibly adjusted according to the size of the stored items.
Load-bearing Method: Specifically designed for manual access without reliance on heavy machinery. Goods are usually loose items, small to medium-sized boxed products, or items not stored on pallets.
Height Limitations: To accommodate manual operation, the rack height is generally under 2.5 meters. If equipped with a step ladder or picking platform, the height can reach around 3 meters to make full use of the upper space in the warehouse.

Based on the load-bearing capacity per shelf, shelf racking is generally divided into three categories:
Light-duty Shelf Racking: Load capacity typically under 100kg per shelf, often used for electronic components, tools, lightweight packaged goods, and back storage in offices or supermarkets.
Medium-duty Shelf Racking: Load capacity generally between 100kg-500kg per shelf, suitable for household appliances, daily necessities, industrial parts, etc.
Heavy-duty Shelf Racking: Load capacity can exceed 500kg per shelf, with a sturdier structure used for storing heavier metal parts, mechanical components, bulk materials, etc.
IV. Shelf Material Options
Steel Shelves: Strong load-bearing capacity, durable, fire-resistant, and moisture-proof, commonly used in industrial environments.
Wooden Shelves: Often made of composite board or particle board, relatively low cost, and neat appearance, but with lower load-bearing capacity and durability compared to steel shelves. Suitable for light industrial or commercial environments with lower load requirements.
