Narrow Aisle Racking is a specialized form of heavy-duty shelving where the forklift handling aisles within the racking system are relatively narrow, hence the name narrow aisle or narrow channel racking. Due to the narrowed aisles, the storage density of narrow aisle racking increases, boosting storage capacity by 30% to 60%.

Its structural features are as follows:

1. Narrow Aisle Racking significantly increases storage capacity, regardless of the state of goods retrieval.

2. Narrow aisle racking requires the use of narrow aisle forklifts capable of three-way access. These forklifts are considerably more expensive than the standard warehouse forklifts used with ordinary racking, typically costing between 500,000 to 1.2 million RMB. Due to the higher cost of forklifts, this type of racking is generally only suitable for high-rise warehouses and is recommended for use at heights of 5 meters or more.

3. Narrow aisle forklifts operate on tracks, usually designed with floor rails. Therefore, accessing goods on the first level requires additional beams, which increases costs. With technological advancements, there are now forklifts equipped with magnetic guides, allowing first-level goods to be stored directly on the ground without the need for tracks, though the cost of such forklifts is correspondingly higher.
