Performance:

1. Scratch Resistance: Adding nano alumina to coatings and paints forms a very fine, uniform, and extremely hard network structure on the paint surface, protecting the underlying polymer layer from damage. The scratch resistance of nano paint is significantly improved compared to conventional paint, widely used in automotive paints, etc.

2. Wear Resistance: The excellent wear resistance of nano alumina is widely applied in the field of coatings and paints. Adding 1-2% nano alumina to coatings greatly enhances wear resistance, outperforming traditional coatings. Widely used in furniture paints, etc.

3. Durability:

Nano paint durability tests are conducted on various automotive parts under laboratory conditions.

Since 2001, tests have been performed on trial vehicles, such as car wash tests using car wash fluid containing a certain amount of quartz sand to scrub nano-painted cars. In the tests, washing the car 10 times is equivalent to 50–100 car washes in real life. After 10 such car wash tests, the remaining gloss of conventional paint is only 35%, while nano paint retains over 70% gloss with almost no scratches.

4. Insulation:

Nano alumina has high resistivity and excellent insulation properties, widely used in plastics, rubber, ceramics, coatings, polyimide films, polyester films, polyester fiber cloth, and other insulating products. It can improve coating density and dielectric breakdown strength, enhancing insulation performance by more than 3 times.

5. Thermal Conductivity: Coatings with nano alumina have good thermal conductivity and insulation properties, widely used in various electronic materials.

6. Reinforcement and Toughening: Nano alumina effectively enhances and toughens coatings. At an addition rate of 5%, the toughening effect is optimal, and mechanical properties reach their peak: shear strength at 150°C increases by 74.2%, tensile strength by 63.7%, elongation at break by 4.1%, and flexural strength by 59.4%.

7. Transparency: Nano alumina particles range from 10–100 nm in size, smaller than the wavelength of light, making it an invisible protective layer. It does not hinder paint color display nor affect coating transparency and gloss.

8. Addition Rate: This nano alumina can maintain over 98% transparency even at a maximum addition rate of 20%. The specific usage amount should be determined by manufacturers based on product wear resistance requirements and cost considerations. Users can determine the addition rate through testing according to different systems.
