Applications
2-Imidazolidinone is primarily used as a fabric anti-wrinkle finishing agent and de-aldehyde agent; as a crosslinking agent in rubber, resins, PA6, etc.; as a formaldehyde scavenger in poly-EVA, various water-based coatings, adhesives, pigments, paints, etc.; when added alone to coatings, it imparts the ability to absorb and decompose formaldehyde; functions as a wetting, anti-clogging, and dispersing agent in inkjet printing inks; serves as a chelating agent and formaldehyde absorber in photosensitive materials; and acts as a formaldehyde removal treatment agent in the paper industry. It is also a key component in various air fresheners and aldehyde removers, and an important intermediate in the synthetic production of penicillin.
