Description
Additional Information

Babbitt metal is primarily used for the bushings, bearings, liners, and sleeves of large machinery spindles. Examples include cement machinery, steel machinery, chemical machinery, papermaking machinery, petroleum machinery, ship machinery, compression machinery, coal mining machinery, mineral processing equipment, etc. It can also be used in large machine tools to replace brass, with excellent results.

According to national standards, Babbitt metal can be divided into two types: tin-based alloys and lead-based alloys. Lead-based alloys have lower strength and hardness compared to tin-based alloys and also exhibit poorer corrosion resistance. Therefore, when customers use Babbitt metal, they typically opt for tin-based alloys. Common grades include ZChSnSb11-6, ZChSnSb8-4, ZChSnSb8-8, etc. Although lead-based alloys do not perform as well as tin-based alloys, many customers still choose to use them because they are more economical.

Tin-based alloy (Babbitt metal) is a low-melting-point bearing alloy with hard particles distributed in a soft matrix. There are three series: tin-based, lead-based, and cadmium-based. The representative composition (by mass fraction) of tin-based Babbitt metal is: antimony 3%~15%, copper 2%~6%, cadmium <1%, with the remainder being tin. Known for its anti-friction properties, tin-based and lead-based bearing alloys were invented by the American Babbitt and are named after him. Due to their white color, they are also called white metal or "Wujin" (black gold).
