They are relatively expensive and widely used in heavy-duty power machinery, such as high-speed bearings and bushings for steam turbines, turbines, and internal combustion engines; compressors, ball mills, and pulper bearings and bushings; rolling mill, dryer cylinder, and press bearings and bushings; marine machinery, chemical machinery, and mining machinery bearings and bushings; grinder support sliders, mechanical seals, and other applications.

Lead-based bearing alloy is primarily composed of lead, with small additions of tin, copper, and antimony to enhance hardness and strength. Common grades include ZChPbSb16-16-2, 20-15-1.5, 10-15, 15-5, 1-16-1, etc. Lead-based bearing alloys have lower strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and thermal conductivity compared to tin-based alloys, but they are more cost-effective, offer good high-temperature strength, and possess self-lubricating properties. They are commonly used in equipment operating under low-speed and low-load conditions, such as bearings and bushings for automobile and tractor crankshafts; crusher and fan bearings and bushings; and for elevator sling wire rope fastening, component space filling, etc.
