Grinder wear-resistant bimetallic Babbitt sliders, support pads, bottom pads, and side pads. The metallic characteristic of Babbitt alloy is that hard phase particles are uniformly distributed on a soft phase matrix. The soft phase matrix gives the alloy excellent embeddability, conformability, and anti-seizure properties. After running-in, the soft matrix becomes concave, and the hard particles protrude outward, forming micropores between sliding surfaces that serve as oil storage spaces and lubricant channels, creating a lubricating oil film layer that reduces friction and wear. The protruding hard particles support the journal, enhancing load-bearing capacity. Babbitt alloy, in addition to being used for manufacturing sliding bearings, is often applied as wire or powder sprayed onto steel, copper, or other substrates to create bimetallic bearing bushes and sleeves due to its soft texture and low strength. Babbitt alloys are divided into tin-based (tin-antimony bearing alloys) with a melting point of 230°C. To prevent component segregation, refine grain structure, and increase strength and hardness, small amounts of rare metals are often added.
