Principle of Defoamer Action
The principle of defoamer action mainly involves reducing the surface tension of the liquid. Generally, the faster the defoamer spreads on the liquid surface, the quicker the liquid film thins, and the stronger the defoaming effect. Liquids capable of spreading on the surface and acting as defoamers have low surface tension and are easily adsorbed onto the liquid surface. Such substances are mainly surfactants like ethers and alcohols.
