After fine processing, it appears as a white gum powder. Its quality complies with the British Pharmacopoeia (BP 98), United States Pharmacopeia (USP XXIII), Food Chemicals Codex (FCC), and European Community food additive standards, with the code E413.

Tragacanth Gum is a natural gum derived from the Astragalus shrub, commonly found in Southeast Europe and West Asia. It is obtained by making incisions in the stems of the plant. Tragacanth Gum swells in water to form a strong gel but is almost insoluble in water. It is primarily used as an emulsifier, suspending agent, and thickener. 4. Thermal Stability: When heated, the viscosity of Tragacanth Gum aqueous solution temporarily decreases but returns to its original state once the temperature returns to normal.
5. High Viscosity and Rheological Properties: A 1% aqueous solution exhibits pseudoplastic fluid behavior, showing good stir-thinning characteristics and advantages in pipeline transportation.
6. Insoluble in Alcohol and Oils: Tragacanth Gum is insoluble in organic solvents such as alcohol and oils, making it suitable for various water-based applications.
