Color is Critical

The Judge QC is ideal for critical applications requiring visual color assessment. If color mismatches are found during final product assembly or between batches or lots, the result is inevitably waste and inefficiency. Incorporating the Judge QC standard light booth as an indispensable part of the visual assessment process, whether in the lab, production floor, or quality assurance process, ensures that customers will be delighted with the color results.

The Ultimate Judgment

X-Rite's latest Judge QC is the most cost-effective light booth in the industry, featuring a rugged industrial design. Its powder-coated metal structure ensures long service life. Five light sources are provided:

• Stable fluorescent lighting that meets major international standards (such as ISO, ASTM, DIN, ANSI, and BSI visual assessment requirements).

• Dedicated D50 light source for printing and packaging applications; dedicated D65 light source for industrial applications. Also includes Tungsten (A), UV, and fluorescent lights. The new dual daylight mode allows operators who may need to view samples under both D50 and D65 lighting conditions to easily switch between these two sources.

• Easy installation and replacement of light sources, which can be done independently or by X-Rite technicians.

• Optional light source sets include calibration certification.

Beware of Metamerism and Optical Brightening Agents

Metamerism refers to the phenomenon where objects match in color under one light source but not under another, often occurring when dyes, coatings, or pigments are changed during production. To check for metamerism, samples need to be viewed under various light sources. The Judge QC Light Booth includes the primary Tungsten (A) light source for metamerism comparison.

When samples contain Optical Brightening Agents (OBA), the Judge QC's UV lamp should be used. OBAs are used to achieve a "whiter than white" effect on a variety of materials, including plastics, coatings, finishes, and paper. If lighting conditions are inappropriate, whites and any colors applied to materials or fabrics will not be consistent and will fail to meet expectations. The Judge QC's UV lighting enables accurate visual assessment of OBA-enhanced materials.
